  • CAST SPOTLIGHT******** Meet Madelyn (Maddie) Verdoorn, one of our cast members for the Mountain River Ranch Summer Season this year. This is Maddie's second year at Mountain River Ranch. In addition to playing piano and guitar and singing since a very young age, Maddie has also studied dance for 16 years. She is currently studying at Boise State University to complete her bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish. As she grew up, Maddie graduated from Compass Academy in 2016, and throughout her studies there she also cheered as the cheer captain for two years at Idaho Falls High School. In 2015, she won the title of Moss Bonneville County Outstanding Teen and late went on to place in the Top 8 at Miss Idaho Outstanding Teen. She also played a lead role as 'The Cat' in the IFYAC production of 'Honk Junior', a children's musical based around the ugly duckling story. After her high school graduation, Maddie was awarded the 2016 Idaho Mayor's Scholarship to pursue her post-secondary studies. At Boise State University, Maddie has worked as a Teaching Assistant for Kinesiology, the Living Learning Community on the BSU campus, where she works with fellow undergraduates in the Bronco Fit program. Maddie intends to complete her degree from Boise State University in December 2019, and her ultimate career goal is to work as a homicide detective.

  • CAST SPOTLIGHT****** Meet Chase Haage, one of our cast members for the Mountain River Ranch summer season! This is Chase's second year at the Mountain River Ranch. Chase is a comedian, vocalist, pianist, ukulelist, and trombonist. He is currently working on his studies for a bachelor's degree in music education at Idaho State University, and already holds an associate's degree in history. Chase has worked as a performer with the ISU Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and Marching band for five years, and has served as the Marching Band's low brass section leader for 3 years. He has received national recognition from the Kappa Kappa Psi National Band Fraternity for "demonstrat(ing) outstanding leadership" during the 2017-18 academic year when he served as the Idaho State University Chapter's president. Chase began his comedy career in 2014, and has performed sets across Idaho, Utah, and Illinos. In summer of 2016, Chase toured with the DCI Seattle Cascades Drum Corps, one of the top twenty-five corps in America, marching and playing contra. He received a claim to fame amongst corps members for performing a show with the group even after sustaining an injury in a rehearsal that yielded several broken ribs. In a recent performance, the ISU Jazz Ensemble premiered a piece Chase arranged that featured himself as a soloist on trombone. After completing his degree at ISU, Chase plans to work as a music teacher, sharing his passion for performing, arranging, and composing with the rising generations.
